Program Overview

Japan's Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) visa program was created to address critical labor shortages across 14 designated industry sectors. This program places workers in Food Service, Food Manufacturing, Accommodation (Hotel/Housekeeping), Airport Ground Handling, and Transport (Taxi/Driver) roles. SSW Type 1 allows up to 5 years of renewable stay; SSW Type 2 has no limit on stay, allows family reunification, and provides a strong pathway to Permanent Residency. All workers receive social insurance coverage. Japanese language proficiency at JLPT N4 level (or equivalent) is mandatory, along with an occupation-specific skills test. Japan offers excellent career stability, social security, and a unique cultural experience.

Restaurant, izakaya, hotel dining, and catering roles across Japan.
Food Manufacturing Worker
Food production and processing plant roles in Japanese manufacturing facilities.
Accommodation / Hotel Staff
Hotel front desk, housekeeping, and guest services in Japanese hotels and inns (ryokan).
Airport Ground Handling
Baggage handling, aircraft marshaling, and ground support at Japanese airports.
Transport Worker (Taxi/Truck Driver)
Licensed taxi and truck driving roles in Japanese cities and logistics companies.

Competitive / monthly gross

Salary is equivalent to or higher than Japanese nationals in the same role. Entry-level workers typically earn ¥180,000–¥250,000/month (~$1,200–$1,700 USD). Social insurance is included.
