About the University
Overview

Korea University of Technology and Education (한국기술교육대학교), commonly known as KoreaTech, is a government-funded national technology university in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province. Established in 1992 as one of Korea's specialized engineering institutions, KoreaTech is consistently ranked among the top 10 Korean engineering universities and is closely tied to Korea's major industrial corporations.

Why Choose Korea University of Technology and Education?

KoreaTech is often described as the "MIT of Korea" for industry-focused engineering education. As a national university with government subsidies, its tuition is dramatically lower than comparable private engineering schools. The UIC English Track allows international students to complete a full engineering or technology degree without learning Korean, making it uniquely accessible.

Campus & Facilities

The campus in Cheonan features world-class engineering laboratories, a technology innovation center, multiple research institutes, international student housing, a sports complex, and a direct industry liaison office connecting students with Samsung, Hyundai, and LG facilities within driving distance.

Student Life

Cheonan is a major industrial city south of Seoul with excellent quality of life — affordable housing, a growing international community, and 40-minute KTX access to Seoul. Students benefit from abundant engineering internship opportunities at nearby Korean corporate facilities.

Admission Requirements

High school diploma with strong science and mathematics background. Korean Track: TOPIK Level 3+ recommended. UIC English Track: IELTS 5.5 / TOEFL iBT 59 / CEFR B2 or equivalent, minimum GPA 2.64/4.0. All documents must be apostilled or consular-confirmed.

Scholarships & Financial Aid
Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) nominations available for eligible international students — covering full tuition and living stipend. Institutional merit scholarships for high-performing students from second year onward. UIC English Track students may qualify for special international merit awards.
