About the University
Overview

Dongseo University is a vibrant private university located in Busan — South Korea's second-largest city and major port. Founded in 1991, Dongseo has built a strong reputation for its international programs, design, film, IT, business, and Korean language education. The university actively recruits international students and has campuses in central Busan with modern facilities.

Why Choose Dongseo University?

Dongseo offers the unique experience of studying in Busan — a coastal, culturally rich, and internationally open city. The university has an extremely active international student community, Korean language support, industry connections to Busan's shipping, IT, and tourism sectors, and an affordable cost of living compared to Seoul.

Campus & Facilities

The Sentrum (main) campus in Busan features smart lecture halls, film production studios, design labs, computer labs, a library, international student center, dormitories, sports facilities, and easy subway access to Busan city center and beaches.

Student Life

Busan is a coastal metropolis with beaches (Haeundae, Gwangalli), mountains, world-class seafood, K-pop culture, international film festivals, and a thriving nightlife. Living costs are lower than Seoul, making it ideal for students on a budget who still want a cosmopolitan Korean experience.

Admission Requirements

High school diploma, Korean language certificate (TOPIK 2+ preferred), financial proof, health certificate, passport, academic transcripts. English documentation accepted for international programs.

Scholarships & Financial Aid
TWISE NEW scholarship discounts apply. Additional partial scholarships available for international students based on merit.
Studying in South Korea — What You Should Know
Cost of Living
Monthly living expenses in Korea range from ₩500,000–₩1,000,000 (~$380–$760 USD) covering food, transport, and essentials. Dormitory costs are typically ₩200,000–₩400,000/month. Busan and Jeonju are significantly cheaper than Seoul.
Language
Korean (한국어) is the primary language of instruction. Most TWISE NEW partner universities offer Korean language courses for international students. Basic Korean (TOPIK Level 1–2) is required for enrollment in most programs. TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) exams are held globally.
Student Visa (D-2)
International students study on a D-2 visa. SkillBridge Global assists you through the entire visa application process. The visa allows part-time work (up to 20 hours/week during semesters, unlimited during vacations) after obtaining a work permit.
Part-Time Work
International students with a work permit can work up to 20 hours per week during academic terms and full-time during school vacations. Common jobs include restaurant service, tutoring, convenience stores, and campus jobs.
Healthcare
Korea has one of the world's best healthcare systems. International students are required to join the National Health Insurance (NHIS) — typically ₩60,000–₩80,000/month — which covers most medical expenses at a fraction of the cost.
Weather & Climate
Korea has four distinct seasons. Summers (June–August) are hot and humid; winters (December–February) can be cold and snowy, especially inland. Spring and autumn are mild and beautiful — popular for travel and outdoor activities.
